Welcome to nursery class where fun and learning are one!

We have lots of adults to help us on our journey. There is Miss Hayes who is our class teacher, and Mrs Young and Mrs Birkitt who are our fantastic teaching assistants this year.

At the start of the year, we will spend lots of time settling into our new environment, getting to know each other and having lots of fun playing and exploring together. Throughout this time, we will be learning our new class rules and routines. 

We follow the Development matters framework, so most of our learning happens through play. The classroom is set up daily with specific activities to explore alongside the adults and our friends. The adults will help to encourage and develop learning, problem solving, trying new things and extending on ideas. There are always lots of fun and new activities to choose from which have been planned purposely to support progress and learning. 

Throughout the year, we will explore numbers and shapes as part of our maths curriculum and we will share books and begin to write for our literacy. A big focus throughout the year will be developing our language and vocabulary skills to help develop our communication. We will learn how to share and be kind to our friends and others in school. As well as this, we will provide lots of opportunities to explore the world around us and be imaginative learners!

Finally, we encourage every child to express themselves and be unique and most of all have lots of fun! We love being explorers!
