Welcome to Year 2's class page!

Our class teachers are Mrs Hardy and Mrs Griffiths. Miss Nicholls and Miss Conran are our Teaching Assistants. 

Our days are very busy in Year 2. As well as English and Maths, we have many curriculum subjects to cover throughout the week. These include Geography, History, PSHE, Computing, RE, PE, Music, Science, Art, and DT! 

Year 2 is a very important year for your children to develop their reading fluency. This means they will start to read words more automatically with expression and at a good pace. In turn, this will help children to develop a good understanding of the texts they are reading. 

We really want to encourage children to read for pleasure as much as possible and ask that you make the most of the opportunities for shared reading with your child at home. 

In English, we will share a variety of high-quality books as a class. These will be used to prompt discussions, help us to learn new vocabulary, and will create lots of motivation and excitement for writing. 

In Maths, we will be securing children’s knowledge up to 100 and possibly even beyond! Counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s helps us with many tasks in Year 2 so if you could practice this at home, that would be beneficial for your child.

Please discuss your child's learning with them as much as possible. This will give them an opportunity to share some of the fantastic knowledge they will learn this year!
